Woman to Woman: Music That Soothes Your Soul

About a three minute read.

Who all saw this when I posted it yesterday?

Who all thought I was referring to being in a relationship now?

Well, I’m not here to comment on my relationship status. 😏

But I am here to tell you ladies about is this music we listen to…

I am a huge music buff! I love any and all music. My favorite genre is R&B and neo-soul. I LOVE the 90s music era when Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, and Mary J were at the peak of their careers! That’s what I was raised on! I love the way it makes me feel. And now with modern day artist like H.E.R, SZA, and Summer Walker, I don’t know whether I want to fall in love or break up with myself.

Joking. Haha.

For some reason lately, I’ve been really re-evaluating some things in my life that may either drain my energy or bring it down.

And although “Gone Away”- By H.E.R. is my song, I don’t have to sing a song about heartbreak anymore. Especially heartbreak that I ended.🤦

I think the songs that we listen to really have an effect on our energy. Every now and then it’s completely fine, but everyday sis? It’s draining you!

Also, although we love Cardi B and Megan the Stallion, what energy are we giving off with these songs on repeat. Now sis, I like Cardi too, but you can’t tell me that listening to “Bodak Yellow” 40 times a day won’t make you feel like a real-life gangster?!

I know I did. And I had to snap out of it really fast. Lol.

Now I try to mix it up even more than what I did before. Sometimes I even listen to the sounds of the ocean on my Breethe App (yes that is how you spell it)!

It’s sooo soothing!

We need to start adding more positive energy into our souls and releasing less negative quietly.

How do you expect to get a man when you’re singing “Not Gone Cry” by Mary J every night?

Let’s make an “About Our Business” playlist! Some music we can get some work done to!

Everything in moderation, sis.

What’s your favorite positive and uplifting song? My song lately has been ‘7 Rings’ by Ariana Grande. Check it out below!
